A recent article on the BBC suggested that research conducted by Dundee University has provided evidence that the wearing of approved headgear may cut the occurrence of concussive injuries by half. In response to this, World Rugby has issued a statement to all member unions which clearly states that headgear is not approved for the prevention of concussive head injuries. A copy of this statement can be found on the North Mids Referees Society website.
