Today’s opponents are Wolverhampton RFC whose home ground is Castlecroft Road. Our opponents are not having the best of seasons and currently lie at the bottom of theLeague table, having won just 2 games and drawn 1.
They began the season with a home defeat to Veseyans, 20-24, followed by an away defeat at Stafford 45-17. At the end of September they lost away 51-7 to Sutton Coldfield, a club that actually sits at the top of the table and has not lost a game so far. In October Wolverhampton drew 26-26 with Newcastle, then lost at home to Burntwood 22-31, lost away at Newport 29-24, lost at home against Telford 13-33 and then came to Marlpool Lane, where the result was 48-18.
In November they recorded their first win – 22-15 at home over Shrewsbury, then lost away at Willenhall 22-5. However, December brought their second win – 37-8 against Stafford, but a week later – the last game of the year – they lost away at Newcastle 43-10.
The New Year has not been kind as Wolverhampton lost to Newport 15-36, to Spartans 0-32, at Telford 22-10 and at home to Sutton Coldfield 5-55.
