Bromsgrove vets 24 v Kidderminster 2nd xv 21.

Last minute unavailability by a number of players meant KC's travelled to Bromsgrove on Saturday with a squad of 16 to play a match held in honour of Thomas Jones who recently lost his life while on a night out in Worcester.

After losing the toss KC's were made to play down hill the 1st half. KC's managed to open up a 14-0 lead with tries by Chris May-Millar and Will Roff with Liam Harrison adding the extras. Just before the break former KC's captain, John Mounter playing at fly half for Bromsgrove managed to score a try under the posts which was converted. A seven point lead at half time was always going to be tough to defend in but KC's made life extremely hard when Bromsgrove scored straight from the kick off but missed the conversion. As the half progressed KC's came more into the game and Chris May-Millar scored his 2nd try again converted by Liam Harrison giving KC's a 21-12 lead.Once again straight from the kick off Bromsgrove managed to get hold of the ball to score a uncoverted try. The score remained 21- 17 in favour of KC's until the last 4 minutes with KC's attacks being awarded numerous penalties however white line fever got the better of the team by taking quick tap penalties when perhaps a shot at posts might have been the better option. Worse was to follow with the last play of the game as Bromsgrove eventually turned the ball over and went the length of the pitch and score the winning try which was converted.

Overall a good game of rugby between two evenly matched teams and which was well reffed. Thanks to everybody who played and if we can get another 5 or 10 players on a regular basis and match the effort shown in future weeks some wins will start coming our way.
