Today the colts booked their place in the North Mids Plate Final with a convincing win at Veseyans. They got on the scoreboard within 3 minutes when Ryan Hughes was first held up going over then he picked up from the scrum and went blind to score in the corner with Sam Faulkner adding the conversion. Veseyans then had a good 15 minute spell and came close to breaching the Kidderminster line several times before Kidderminster took control again with Hayden Edwards finding Elliot Murphy to throw the dummy and cut back inside to score under the posts. Alex Sparks converted. Veseyans then got a penalty back before Kidderminster finished the half with Harvey Kelsall drawing the last man in and then releasing Malcolm Herbert up the wing to score in the corner. Mike Humphreys converted to make the half time score 3-21.

Veseyans started the second half well and got a break 3 minutes in but Josh Winfield made a try saving tackle and Veseyans fumbled while securing it. Hakeem Hussain, back from a long injury, picked up and passed to Arthur Morgan for him to kick down the pitch, pick up and shrug off his tackler to score in the corner. This seemed to be the turning point and Kidderminster seemed to step up the pace and take control. 5 minutes later Ryan Hughes made another break off the scrum but was tackled short of the line. He made a back hand pass as he hit the floor to find Harry Parker to go over. Shortly after Mike Humphreys found Josh Winfield running at pace for him to slice through the defence and score. Next saw David Kane make a break before releasing Alex Sparks to score the try. Alfie Smith got the conversion. Shortly after, a loose pass by Veseyans on the half way saw Mike Humphreys pick up and sprint down the pitch to score and convert. The final Kidderminster try came 6 minutes from time when Alex Royall intercepted a pass from the lineout then passed back towards it to Ryan Hughes for him to pop it to David Kane to run it into the corner. With the last play of the game Veseyans got a break and kicked through the defence for a chase to the line. Kidderminster got there first, just before the try line, but were caught out lying on the ball and a penalty try was awarded. Final score 10-55.

Considering Veseyans play 2 leagues below Kidderminster they put up a good fight today. They looked dangerous in the first half but the try early on in the second half seemed to deflate them. Kidderminster scored 9 tries from 9 different players and gave an excellent team display to get to the final next Sunday. Kidderminster will be playing the winner of Camp Hill v Old Hales, also playing today. The finals will be held at Dudley Kings on Sunday 17th April, kick off should be 1.45pm.
