Today the Colts took on Camp Hill in the Final of the North Mids Plate at Dudley Kings. Kidderminster got off to a good start and were on the scoreboard on 8 minutes when Ryan Hughes made a break and popped to Tom Kerrigan who was stopped just short of the line but managed to get the ball out to George Lloyd for him to carry it over. Sam Faulkner converted. That was the only score of the half as Camp Hill defended well and kept Kidderminster at bay. Half time score 0-7.
Second half carried on in the same form with Kidderminster getting plenty of ball but just not managing to break through. It wasn't till 56 minutes when they finally got the break they needed when Harvey Kelsall made a run and fed in Josh Winfield to sprint into the corner and score. Mike Humphreys converted. Next saw Arthur Morgan kick for Sam Faulkner to chase and gather before offloading to Mike Humphreys for him to run it in. Sam Faulkner converted. Next came a try from Jack Samways when he picked up from the back of a ruck and powered over the line before Alex Sparks finished the game with a try under the posts when he latched onto a run from Josh Winfield. Sam Faulkner got the conversion. Final score 0-33.
Unlucky to Camp Hill who were in the game in till the final 15 minutes. Once Kidderminster got the second try they seemed to relax and play how they usually do. That completes the double of the League and Plate and a second excellent season for this crop of players. Most have another year at colts so hopefully there is still more to come.
That is the last game of the season and the coaching staff are now all stepping down from Kidderminster. I would like to thank everyone that has made this a great year. Rob has done the video and Tina has supplied match photos all season. Parents have helped out wherever needed to keep the lads happy and things running smoothly. They have also sponsored the colts with cash donations and helped with fundraising. Last but not least, Roddy, Nick and Mark who have done all the hard work over the years to make the players who they are today.
I would also like to thank Pete Hill and the senior players that came along to support today.
Good luck to the lads through to U19s County over the next 2 weeks.
