The last time we played Luctonians (12 months ago on Mothers Day) we were on the painful end of a large loss shipping 8 or 9 tries with no reply. Sunday was a much different story with excellent defence, good shape throughout and real character responding well to falling two tries behind.
The first period saw intense Luctonian pressure, which KCRFC withstood without conceding any points through good tackling and strength of character. We were a little unlucky to go behind in the second session to an intercepted try, followed by a second try where a diagonal run wasn't dealt with adequately.
However the team came back strongly: Firstly through a surging, spinning and determined run and try from Alfie (converted by Ollie H-B) and then a second score from Kingy who exploited a scrum 'won against the head' . The final few minutes saw Luctonians under sustained pressure as we attacked the try line, but as we edged ever closer in wave after wave of attacks, the touchline came to Lucs rescue. It was a fine, competitive match enjoyed by players and spectators alike.
